Carnie Wilson Sheds Pounds & Clothes, Poses for PETA

Singer Is Latest Celebrity to Declare, "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur"

Philadelphia - Once stars lose weight, they usually cash in on their new figure with lucrative endorsement deals. Carnie Wilson, however, after losing 150 pounds, volunteered to pose free of charge—nude, even—as the newest poster girl in PETA's naked anti-fur ad series, joining the ranks of Pamela Anderson, Kim Basinger, and Tyra Banks.

The new ad, shot by designer-turned-photographer Todd Oldham, features Wilson covered by fluorescent felt foliage above the headline "Turn Over a New Leaf—Don't Wear Fur." PETA will debut the print ad next month to coincide with New York's Fashion Week runway collections.

"Inside every cold-hearted fur-wearer is a kind person screaming to get out!" says Wilson. Each year, millions of animals are trapped, drowned, or beaten to death in the wild or cruelly gassed, strangled, or electrocuted on fur farms.

Wilson, whose weight loss landed her the cover of this week's People magazine and a feature on this Friday's episode of 20/20, is a longtime animal advocate. Her 1992 PETA ad targeting L'Oréal helped pressure the company to stop using animals in cosmetics tests.

Broadcast quality foootage of Wilson's PETA shoot is available.
